Chris Sutton has now made a claim involving Pep Guardiola and Cole Palmer after the Chelsea No.20 left Manchester City in September.
The 50-year-old made the comments when speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast.
So, what did Chris Sutton say about Pep Guardiola and Cole Palmer? Let’s take a look…
Pep Guardiola criticised for selling Cole Palmer
Well, the man from Nottingham believes the Spaniard was “nuts” for allowing the 21-year-old to join Chelsea.
Palmer has excelled since moving to Stamford Bridge in a £42.5m deal on transfer deadline day back in September, scoring eight goals – while also providing four assists – in 17 Premier League appearances.
Now, Sutton claims that Guardiola has been left with “egg on his face” as the England international shines in west London.
The BBC Sport pundit said: “We should be getting excited about Cole Palmer. He has carried Chelsea. If you’re a Manchester City supporter, you’re thinking Pep was nuts to let him go, with the talent which he has.
“Pep rarely gets egg on his face but with this one, it looks like he has got it wrong. Palmer has been phenomenal in a struggling Chelsea team.”

Sutton doesn’t appear to understand the context behind the situation.
Manchester City had no choice
Guardiola has already revealed that he wanted Palmer to stay and replace Riyad Mahrez, but the City Football Academy graduate expressed a desire to depart.
The 52-year-old was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “I said to him, Riyad is leaving, you are going to get a chance here. He said, no, I’m not going to play here, I want to leave.”

Therefore, Guardiola had no choice but to let Palmer leave – the Spaniard has a clear policy at the Etihad Stadium, in which nobody is kept against their will.
As a result, Sutton – and others who have questioned the sale, including Anton Ferdinand – should do their homework before hitting out at Guardiola.
