Anton Ferdinand has now expressed his shock at Manchester City allowing Cole Palmer to leave for Chelsea.
The 38-year-old made the comments when speaking on the FIVE podcast.
So, what was said about Manchester City and Cole Palmer? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the brother of Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester City could regret allowing the 21-year-old to leave.
Pep Guardiola let Palmer join Chelsea in a deal worth £42.5m on transfer deadline day.
According to the Spaniard’s assistant – Juanma Lillo – the Chelsea No.20 wanted to leave, and Manchester City decided not to stand in his way.
Palmer has since scored three goals and provided two assists in his last four Premier League appearances, with Ferdinand now heaping praise on the England Under-21 international.

Speaking alongside Danny Murphy, he said: “Cole Palmer – what a player he is. I’m so surprised City got rid of him. The boy is a joke. He’s got that Riyad Mahrez feel on the right hand side, jinking, dropping the shoulder. He can strike a ball properly.
“The fact that he’s in the Chelsea team and he’s going, the penalties are mine, tells you about his character. What a signing that could be for Chelsea.”
Cole Palmer could have stayed at Manchester City
We understand that Palmer became restless and wanted to be a key player elsewhere.
However, that opportunity on the right flank seemed very close to opening up at Manchester City.
Mahrez left for Saudi Arabia, and – according to le10sport – PSG have a verbal agreement to sign Bernardo Silva next summer when a £50m release clause comes into play.

In truth, a chance seemed to be opening up for Palmer anyway after he scored in both the FA Community Shield against Arsenal and also the UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla.
Nevertheless, the Wythenshawe-born forward clearly didn’t want to wait, and in fairness to him, the move is working out so far.
