Ultimately, this would be the dream for every Sky Blues supporter as there are not many bigger fan favourites at the club than the Belgian icon.

Furthermore, the ex-Anderlecht head honcho has managed to not just ensure that Burnley cruise in the Championship and be almost guaranteed to get promoted but also play attractive football in the process.

“It’s a bit frustrating that a player I coached is now my opponent, it makes me feel old. I am more convinced than ever, after watching his team for the last couple of days, that he will come back here one day, though I can’t say when.”

“Vincent is one of the greatest legends of this club and since day one, he helped me, even though he had injuries. He was an exceptional captain and a top human being”, he said, as quoted by journalist Ian Cheeseman.

The fact that Pep Guardiola was awestruck by how Vincent Kompany has coached this Burnley side is excellent news for Manchester City fans, as he clearly is a fan of the club legend’s tactics.

And there’s no bigger seal of approval in football that the 36-year-old could get than that.
