It has now been reported that the injury suffered by Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland is not as severe as initially feared.

Latest injury update about Manchester City star Erling Haaland

That is according to the Telegraph’s Paul Hirst, who has reported that the knock has been described as ‘precautionary’ and ‘not serious’ as he has pulled out of his country’s squad to return to the club.

But it has been stated that there is no knowledge with regards to when Haaland, recently labeled as one of the ‘stars of football’ by Thibaut Courtois will return to the Manchester City training ground to undergo tests to determine how long his injury could keep him out for.

Further details suggest that Europe’s leading goalscorer could well be unavailable for his side’s clash against Liverpool right after the international break comes to an end.

Norway head coach commented, “He was affected and deeply frustrated. He has done everything he can [to get fit].”

The team doctor added, “He had a little feeling after the last match, but he thought it would go [away]. Then he comes down here, and it got worse. The injury is taking a little too long for us.”

All in all, the injury update surrounding Erling Haaland should not be the biggest worry for Manchester City on the face of things.

Trust in Julian Alvarez

In case Erling Haaland does not recover in time from injury to face Liverpool, Julian Alvarez can always lead the line.

As the Argentine showcased during his stunning showing against Burnley in his side’s latest 6-0 victory, he has the finishing ability to score a brilliant brace in his sleep whilst perhaps being superior to the Norwegian in deeper areas.

While the in-form Haaland, who was passionately defended by Rio Ferdinand against his critics recently remains irreplaceable, there are not many better potential alternatives in the world than the World Cup winner.
