Micah Richards believes Bernardo Silva scored the best goal in yesterday’s Premier League game between Newcastle United and Manchester City.
City took all three points at St. James’ Park, with Pep Guardiola‘s side staging a comeback against the Magpies, inspired by the amazing Kevin De Bruyne.
After taking the lead through Bernardo Silva, Newcastle went ahead through Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
In the second-half, City grabbed an equaliser through De Bruyne, who then turned provider for Oscar Bobb in injury-time.
It was a fantastic game and a brilliant advert for the Premier League, with every goal of the highest quality – and Micah Richards has now shared why he thinks Bernardo’s was the best of the bunch…
Micah Richards gives simple explanation of why Bernardo Silva scored best goal in Newcastle v Man City

Yesterday’s game saw five top quality goals scored at St. James Park.
The goals from Isak and Gordon were superb, with both players finding the far corner with arrowing strikes.
De Bruyne’s goal was sublime in the way that he shaped to find the far corner, but went near post and through a defender’s legs.
Then, the goal from Bobb was glorious as he collected a perfect lofted through ball from De Bruyne, before showing quick feet to avoid the goalkeeper to finish.
But these goals were not quite as good as Bernardo’s in the eyes of Richards. The 29-year-old produced an incredible finish with a backheel from a Kyle Walker cross, which was made even more impressive by the fact it was his weak foot.
On why it was the best goal, Richards said on Match of the Day: “This is his weaker foot. He does everything right. It’s just a little deft touch, it was brilliant. I’m going to go with Bernardo Silva (best goal) because I think it’s the hardest to do.”
What a goal, what a player
It is difficult to find the right words to sum up Bernardo Silva.
He is simply a magical player who probably still doesn’t actually get the credit he truly deserves. Perhaps this is because he has never been a goals or assists kind of player.
But make no mistake about it – he’s one of the finest footballers in the game today, and his goal against the Magpies was just out of this world.
To have the intelligence to pull off a finish like that with the ball coming in so quickly, and on his weak foot too, just shows what a marvel he is.
Given all the reports about his future last summer, it is such a massive relief that he stayed.
