Harry Redknapp has named one player he feels is better than Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The 77-year-old coached hundreds of players during his managerial career including Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Harry Kane and Frank Lampard among many others.

Now though, the former top-flight manager has shared his thoughts on two of Europe’s current top talents.

In a recent quickfire Q&A shared on the ESPN UK TikTok channel, Redknapp was asked to pick who he feels is the better player out of Haaland and Kylian Mbappe and the former Tottenham Hotspur manager picked the Frenchman.

At the age of 23, Haaland has made 216 senior club appearances prior to tonight’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.

In those games, the striker has scored 217 goals and delivered 51 assists, winning eight major domestic and European titles along the way.

On the flip side, Mbappe has scored 278 goals and provided 123 assists in 360 combined appearances for Paris Saint Germain and Monaco, lifting 14 domestic trophies in total.

After the Norwegian ended his record-breaking debut season with City by winning the Treble, he was then named as UEFA’s Best Player in Europe for 2023 and came second in the Ballon d’Or, finishing above Mbappe in third place.

With all of that in mind, there’s no denying that Haaland and Mbappe are two of the best attacking players in European football right now.

However, with Redknapp picking the PSG star over City’s prolific striker, this may surprise but not concern too many supporters of the Manchester club.

Moving forward, with another Treble on the table for the Citizens to try and win again, if Haaland can fire his side to these three trophies once more, he should, in our view, be seen as the best player in the world.
