Gary Lineker has said that Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero was better than Manchester United and Arsenal great Robin van Persie.
Speaking on the No Ratings Podcast, the popular pundit did not hesitate in picking which out of the two retired strikers was superior.
According to Gary Lineker, Sergio Aguero pips Robin van Persie as a better No.9.
Gary Lineker says Sergio Aguero was better than Robin van Persie
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Kevin De Bruyne, the midfield maestro also singled him out as the most complete striker he has ever played with.
The £38 million (BBC Sport) man is widely considered up there amongst the greatest goalscorers to have ever played in Premier League history.
When quizzed about which out of Sergio Aguero, Robin van Persie and Didier Drogba were the best, Gary Lineker sided with the Argentine icon.

“I think Aguero has to edge it personally. I agree with you on that. His goalscoring record is second to very few. Very few, certainly in the Premier League and he’s had such a great career”, he said.
Sergio Aguero was on another level to the Dutchman
Gary Lineker is spot on and when looking at both players’ bodies of work, Sergio Aguero pips the former Feyenoord hitman quite comfortably.
This is not to undermine Van Persie’s brilliance as it would egregious to deny how magnificent he was at his peak.
But what separates Aguero from the Dutchman is the longevity his career had as since 2011, he was one of, if not the best striker in the world.
The same cannot be said for Robin van Persie, whose prime emerged during a three-year stretch between 2011 and 2013.
While Van Persie perhaps had as much natural ability as Aguero, the latter’s sustained brilliance at Manchester City as well as Atletico Madrid makes this a no-contest of a debate.
