Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman believes Kalvin Phillips could leave Manchester City in January.
The midfielder has again seen a chronic lack of game time this season.
Phillips has been warming the bench once again, with Rodri a staple pick for Pep Guardiola.
Rodri’s three-game ban prompted some to wonder if Phillips would get a run in the team.
But he only started against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
If things continue on as they are, he will surely depart in January, and that’s something Seaman can see happening…
David Seaman suggests Kalvin Phillips will leave Manchester City
Phillips has made just five appearances so far this season, for a total of 167 minutes on the pitch.

That is a very low number, and Seaman believes the player could be a departure in the next transfer window.
He said on the Seaman Says podcast: “How does Kalvin Phillips feel? Rodri has been out for three games and he’s still not a regular. There were a lot of rumours of him leaving on transfer deadline. He could be [one who leaves in January] because you need to play.
“He’s been at City for a few years and his game tally is not massive.”
Phillips needs to go
The Rodri suspension was always going to be very interesting for Phillips.
But it has only reinforced the idea that Pep Guardiola doesn’t trust him.

It is clear at this point that the Spaniard just won’t use Phillips – a player he previously called ‘intelligent’ – in important matches.
So he needs to push for an exit in January, because it is a shame for him to be sitting on the bench when he could be starting for quite a lot of other clubs.
