Nedum Onuoha has said that Julian Alvarez is currently the best player at Manchester City after his masterclass against RB Leipzig.
Speaking to ESPN FC after the game, the pundit addressed the World Cup winner’s heroics off the bench, as he scored the winner and assisted Jeremy Doku’s strike.

With the scores tied at 1-1, it did not take long after Alvarez’s introduction for him to curl the ball into the top corner from long range.
If that wasn’t enough to suggest the Argentine’s brilliance, his sumptuous assist to Doku to tuck the ball past Blaswich was as he completely turned the game on its head.
When the possibility of Julian Alvarez, branded as ‘extraordinary’ by Khaldoon Al-Mubarak being the best player at Manchester City this season after his splendid display against RB Leipzig was brought up in front of Nedum Onuoha, he agreed.
“Yeah, apparently so. Apparently so. But this is until [Kevin] De Bruyne comes back and until [Erling] Haaland finds his mojo back. But yeah, he did very well coming off the bench”, he said.

Nedum Onuoha is spot on and Julian Alvarez certainly deserves such high praise after coming up clutch once again for Manchester City against RB Leipzig.
But the former River Plate striker’s biggest competitor for this title is Rodri, whose recent red card mars what has been a phenomenal start to the season for him.
While Alvarez’s goal contributions were top-drawer from the very start of the campaign, he was initially finding his feet in his newfound role behind Haaland.
Rodri, on the other hand has largely been at his typically flawless best.
But due to Julian Alvarez’s constant goal involvements when most needed, he could well be the main man at City currently.
