Pep Guardiola has lavished praise upon Julian Alvarez, who starred for Manchester City in their 3-1 win against Red Star Belgrade.
Speaking after his side’s victory in the Champions League (via City’s official website), the 52-year-old was quizzed about the World Cup winner’s performance.
It’s fair to say that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was left blown away by the Julian Alvarez show against Red Star Belgrade.
Pep Guardiola raves about ‘incredible’ Julian Alvarez after Manchester City beat Red Star Belgrade
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Rodri after his heroics on Tuesday, the Argentine was simply unplayable on the night.
While his second goal was fortuitous due to a goalkeeping error, Alvarez’s opener summed up his outing; as he exhibited skill in taking the ball on the half-turn and no-nonsense execution with a tidy finish.
Pep Guardiola was beaming with the performance on show from Julian Alvarez as Manchester City vanquished Red Star Belgrade at the Etihad Stadium.

“He is so young. What a signing the club have done. He has everything – fighting and goals, and assists. Incredible, lovely guy. Playing behind Erling, he is an incredible threat. Really pleased for him, he deserves it.”
Julian Alvarez is posing a solution to life after Kevin De Bruyne
During long spells in Kevin De Bruyne’s absence previously, the Sky Blues have always found a solution to deal with their talismanic midfielder’s loss due to injury.
As the 23-year-old showcased against Red Star Belgrade for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has done so again.
By utilising him and Phil Foden as a pair of No.10’s, the pair have wreaked havoc this season.
Especially Alvarez, who has replaced De Bruyne’s thunderous ball-striking ability and the ability to generate shots from himself out of nothing.
With Kevin De Bruyne not getting any younger, Pep Guardiola may already have his succession plan in store.
