Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola lauded Erling Haaland for his display in his side’s 3-0 win against Manchester United.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the Manchester Derby, the Catalan tactician gave his two cents on the £51 million (Times) man’s performance.

As Manchester City hitman Erling Haaland scored a brilliant brace as well as registered an assist against Manchester United, Pep Guardiola sang his praises.

Pep Guardiola raves about ‘incredible’ Erling Haaland after Manchester City beat Manchester United

Branded as an ‘amazing guy’ by Ilkay Gundogan, the Norwegian striker has been widely criticised in recent weeks, despite topping the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.

However, on derby day, Haaland silenced his critics with a clinical penalty, a well-taken headed finish from close quarters and an unselfish assist for Foden’s strike to stand out at Old Trafford.

As Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola were spotted having an animated chat after Manchester City defeated Manchester United, the latter gave the ins and outs on their discussion.

“It was the chance in the last minute of the first half when [Andre] Onana made the save. I had the feeling he doesn’t need to go strong and attack, he just needs to touch it. You have to put the ball in the right spot”, Guardiola said.

“But Erling is a machine. He scored two goals and could have scored four. He is incredible. We are confident when we have him there. I’m really pleased.”

Doubting Erling Haaland is just silly at this point

As Manchester City goalscorer Erling Haaland proved once again and as has been backed up by Pep Guardiola after his performance on Sunday, he is a truly special player.

Every time the 23-year-old does not score in the odd game, it seems like the world comes crashing down, with his critics out in full numbers.

However, at this point, if any pundit or fan does not believe Haaland is a generational goalscorer, one has to question whether they are even watching the right sport.
