Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that he was worried that Bernardo Silva would leave this summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports after City’s 3-0 demolition of Manchester United on Sunday, he gave his verdict on the £43 million (BBC Sport) man.
Pep Guardiola admitted that he was ‘scared’ that Bernardo Silva was set to leave Manchester City ahead of the season.
Pep Guardiola admits he was ‘scared’ Bernardo Silva was leaving Manchester City this summer after Manchester United win
Branded as ‘class’ by Gary Neville, the Portuguese international ran the show in the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford.
Alongside Jack Grealish, the 29-year-old ran United’s defence ragged on the left flank, as their constant link-up play eventually led to the latter assisting Erling Haaland’s second goal with a lovely dinked cross.
After Manchester City humbled Manchester United on their own patch, Pep Guardiola admitted that he was petrified that Bernardo Silva was on his way out of the club in the summer.

“He’s humble and everybody loves him in the locker room. We were scared to lose him. He’s irreplaceable. Every time he comes here at Old Trafford, he plays really well”, he said.
Bernardo Silva is well and truly irreplaceable
Pep Guardiola used the right word to emphasize how instrumental Bernardo Silva is to his side: irreplaceable.
Simply put, the five-time Premier League winner is a multifaceted maestro and that was summed up yet again on derby day.
For a majority of the game, at least in possession, Bernardo Silva was effectively operating as a left-winger, where he was unplayable.
However, in the second half, the decorated attacker dropped deep in midfield and controlled the game.
All of this whilst also being a helping hand in the press and while City were defending United’s transitions.
Bernardo Silva is a Swiss Army knife in some senses, except for the fact that he is world-class from a tactical and technical perspective everywhere he is deployed, which makes him truly one of one.
