‘He was unbelievable’… Rodri says he would absolutely love to play with player Man City let go in 2020

Rodri has revealed that if he had the chance to play with a Manchester City legend, it would be David Silva.

Of course, the pair played in tandem during Silva’s penultimate 2019/2020 season at the Etihad Stadium and yet, he chose to pick his countryman yet again.

The retired midfielder perhaps did not get to see the best version of Rodri, who was far from the player he has become since then.

Rodri says he would love to play with “unbelievable” David Silva again

In July last year, the treble-winner reflected on how it was a “pleasure” to play with the former Valencia technician.

Considering the 27-year-old started 29 games in the Premier League in his debut season while Silva played 22, he had enough of an opportunity to play with him.

However, despite all the Manchester City legends Rodri missed out on playing with such as Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta, he would love to play with David Silva again.

“I played with him and I will choose him again to play with, he was unbelievable”, he revealed while speaking to the club’s in-house media on their YouTube channel.

Rodri did not play with the best version of the Manchester City icon

Just like David Silva did not see Rodri at his best, the same applies the other way around.

It finally seemed like the World Cup winner was showing signs of declining as a player, even though he was a class act even then.

But perhaps if Manchester City had signed Rodri two seasons earlier, he would have had the chance to play with David Silva at his brilliant best, as he was perhaps the most complete version of himself in the “Centurions” season.

Or perhaps if the former Atletico Madrid midfielder was older, he may have had the chance to play with Silva in 2012, a year in which he was absolutely world-class for both club and country, as he won the Euros in the same year.
