Rodri raves about David Silva after recent retirement confirmation
Branded as a ‘magician’ by Vincent Kompany, who also paid tribute to the four-time Premier League winner on Instagram, odes have come pouring in after the legendary midfielder’s decision to hang up his boots.
Unfortunately, an ACL injury meant the now-former Real Sociedad maestro decided to retire, putting an end to what has been an unforgettable career to say the least.
Now, Rodri has lauded David Silva for his incredible impact for both Manchester City and the Spanish national team as well.

“I talked to him a few days before. I congratulated him on all his success in his career, [he] was unbelievable. I remember he was the main guy who helped me when I arrived at City. Introduced me to the club, to English culture, advised me everywhere. I remember watching him when I was a kid in the Euros, in the World Cup, at City.”
Rodri summed up his feelings about David Silva by saying, “For me, he was already a legend…when I had the pleasure to play with him, nothing left to say. A big legend in my country, in England and a special player, we’re not going to have any other David Silva.”
Silva was a true icon of the game
As Rodri emphasized, whether it be at Manchester City, Spain or even in La Liga, David Silva was a class act everywhere and anywhere he played.
Simply put, ‘El Mago’ is one of the greatest midfielders of all time, operating at a level only a select few have in the history of the game.
The understated genius’ dominance across arguably two of the best leagues in the world as well as at the international level makes him an undeniable footballing icon, who did so in style.
