It has been reported that Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is set to be excluded from his side’s upcoming friendly against Bayern Munich.

This comes from journalist Florian Plettenburg, who has claimed that this could well be the case as the £50 million (Sky Sports) man looks set to join Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer.

As a result, it may well be the case that Kyle Walker could be watching his current club, Manchester City face off against his soon-to-be employers in Bayern Munich.

Journalist: Kyle Walker not to play in friendly against Bayern Munich ahead of summer transfer

It was claimed a month ago that the Bundesliga giants were internally confident that they were set to seal a deal to sign the treble-winner.

However, some questioned whether Walker had done a U-turn when it came to his future, considering he captained the Sky Blues in their latest 5-3 victory against Yokohama F.Marinos.

But Florian Plettenburg has now reported that Manchester City are set to exclude Kyle Walker from their side during their pre-season clash against Bayern Munich in Tokyo.

Further details claim that both clubs have planned to negotiate over the potential deal in the Japanese capital this week as well.

Pep Guardiola has been informed about the fact that the Englishman is keen on signing for the German giants, with a deal expected to be finalised soon.

The Manchester City legend deserves a hero’s farewell

While it is a shame that Kyle Walker may well have played his final game for Manchester City, it would have been ideal if Bayern Munich would have travelled to the Etihad Stadium for the upcoming fixture.

In that way, even if the 33-year-old was on the bench, he would have at least been given a farewell by a packed home crowd.

Either way, Walker deserves to be cheered on by the travelling City fans as he has cemented his place as a club legend and perhaps has been the most consistent performer during the Guardiola era alongside De Bruyne.

In Manchester City’s all-time greatest team, it would be hard to omit Kyle Walker, which signifies his iconic status.
