‘He would’… Gary Neville says Man City have a player who would actually get into ‘any team in the world’

Gary Neville strongly believes Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden can get into any team in world football.

After the Manchester Derby in which City reigned supreme over United with a 3-1 victory, Paul Merson had the same opinion about the Englishman.

It seems as if the perception around Phil Foden has changed from a couple of months ago.

Gary Neville says Phil Foden can get into any team in the world

After all, it was only in November when Jamie O’Hara claimed that the treble-winner had “lost a bit of that” fearlessness in his game that defined him when he first burst onto the scene for Manchester City.

However, as Phil Foden is setting the world alight this season, Gary Neville has stated that there is not a single team on the globe that he does not get into.

“I said during the last World Cup, if we can’t make room for Phil Foden and can’t build around Phil Foden, we’re struggling. I feel as though Gareth [Southgate] has done a brilliant job but he is something that is completely different.”

“He would get into any team in the world, Phil Foden and we need to put him into his best position, whatever that he feels that is, whatever the coach thinks it is, they can collaborate between them”, he said on Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast.

Phil Foden walks into any team in the world

Gary Neville is spot on about Phil Foden, who does not just get into any team in the world but walks into them, in our view.

For instance, even a side of Real Madrid’s calibre could do with the Stockport-born attacker, who could play alongside Jude Bellingham in midfield or play on the wing instead of Rodrygo, who is a natural left-winger in any case.

Similarly, both Liverpool and Arsenal lack an attacking midfielder of Foden’s standard.

Especially the Gunners, as Martin Odegaard has played in a deeper role this season while the Reds have lacked a genuinely top-class number 10 in their ranks since Philippe Coutinho.

Considering Phil Foden is one of the main men for arguably the best team in the world already, he would stroll into any other side on the planet with ease.
