Paul Merson believes Phil Foden now gets into any side in world football, after his superb performance for Manchester City against Manchester United.
City came from behind to defeat the Red Devils in the Premier League today at the Etihad Stadium.
Marcus Rashford gave the visitors a surprise lead, and United went in 1-0 up at half-time, after the most incredible miss from Erling Haaland from just yards out.
But in the second-half, it was the Phil Foden show, as the England international scored a brace.
His first was a magnificent strike from the edge of the box, and his second was a lovely finished arrowed across Andre Onana from the left side.
Haaland would then atone for his miss before half-time by wrapping up the game in injury-time.
It was an amazing display, and during the game, Paul Merson made a very big claim about the 23-year-old…
Paul Merson says ‘world-class’ Phil Foden gets into any team in the world

Foden has been in scintillating form this season, but today might just have been his best.
Foden was a star throughout, constantly probing and making things happen in the final third.
He was brilliant operating mainly on the right today, while Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne operated centrally.
It doesn’t really matter now where Foden plays – it always seems like he will deliver.
That is the sign of a world-class player, and Paul Merson believes City’s academy graduate now falls into the category.
He wrote on X: “Foden is absolute world class, gets in any team in the world.”
Merson is right
At this point, it is fairly safe to say that Foden is a world-class player.
It is something that he doesn’t necessarily believe himself, but Foden is so good in so many different positions.
The 23-year-old now has 27 goal contributions which is an unbelievable hail from a midfielder by early March.
Merson claims Foden could get in any team in the world. Given City are the best, and he starts regularly, it is difficult to argue against this.
