Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez is set to undergo his medical at some point today, ahead of a move to Al Ahli.

The Saudi club have been chasing the Algeria international for weeks, and last night they finally reached an agreement with City for his transfer.

Initially, they failed with a bid of £18 million.

They then saw a second bid of £27 million rejected.

It has been claimed now that City and Al Ahli have reached an agreement for Mahrez’s transfer for £30 million.

And it’s possible confirmation of this transfer could now arrive very soon.

Riyad Mahrez set to have medical

Mahrez is now set to undergo a medical with Al Ahli.

Fabrizio Romano reported last night that the 32-year-old will have tests in the next 24 hours. He is set to sign a deal until 2027.

Documents are being exchanged, and the two clubs want the deal wrapped up by the end of the week.

Romano has given the transfer his trademark ‘Here we go’, indicating that this is as good as done.

The hunt will now begin for a replacement for the £160,000-a-week star.

Yesterday, City were linked with Barcelona winger Raphinha, who played in the Premier League previously with Leeds United.

A big blow for City

So Mahrez is to leave the club after five years.

It seems he is ready for a new challenge, after just winning the Treble with City.

Mahrez has been an incredible signing for City and produced some huge moments.

He has contributed massively to the club’s success since he’s been at the club, and he will be very difficult to replace on that right wing. Pep Guardiola only called him ‘exceptional’ just a few months ago.

He has returned some brilliant goal and assist numbers, so City have a job on their hands to bring someone else in of similar quality.
