Manchester City are set to sign Jeremy Doku from Rennes, having reached a verbal agreement with the French club tonight.

City have been on the lookout for a new winger, after Riyad Mahrez left the club to join Al Ahli a few weeks ago.

Doku has been on the club’s radar for a few weeks now.

City also looked at Michael Olise of Crystal Palace, and Bradley Barcola of Lyon.

But it looks as though Doku is the man they will be getting.

It is now a question of when not if, with journalist Fabrizio Romano having delivered a big update this evening…

Manchester City to sign Jeremy Doku from Rennes with verbal agreement reached for £51 million, medical soon

Tonight, renowned journalist Romano has dropped a big update on Doku to City.

He has uttered his famous three words to indicate that this deal is as good as done.

He writes: “Jeremy Doku to Manchester City, here we go! Verbal agreement in place after new bid revealed here this morning — worth €60 million (£51 million) package.

“Medical tests being scheduled later this week, personal terms agreed on long term deal. Exclusive story revealed August 1, confirmed.”

This morning, Romano had said that the deal was ‘advancing’. So this update should perhaps come as no real surprise.

It now looks as though it is as good as done.

Should he sign as expected, Doku will become City’s third addition of the summer, after Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.

A move for Doku will delight many City fans, as this potentially means Phil Foden will get more chances to play through the middle
