Manchester City are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise – and comments made previously by Patrick Vieira suggest him as being a great fit at the Etihad.
It was reported yesterday that City and also Chelsea were looking at the winger.
Olise has seriously impressed at Selhurst Park since his arrival there in 2021.
The 21-year-old has caught the eye with his fantastic dribbling ability and playmaking from wide positions.
City are about to lose Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian is joining Al Ahli, and there could be a need for City to dip into the transfer market to replace him.
Olise has huge potential. He has dazzling footwork, but that is not the only thing that makes him stand out…
Patrick Vieira comments may suggest Michael Olise as being a great fit for Man City
Palace, of course, were previously managed by Patrick Vieira.
Vieira took over at Selhurst Park in July 2021 and was sacked in March 2023 after a run of poor results.
During his time at the club, the former City midfielder obviously got to know Olise very well.
He made him a regular in his starting XI.
In March 2022, Vieira strongly praised Olise for how hard he works. He said (via the Independent): “When he was at Reading and talking to the manager (Veljko Paunovic) at the time, he really believed that Michael had that quality to play in the Premier League.
“It was just about creating this kind of place where he could keep improving himself. We knew how good he was. He arrived and he was injured, so he had a difficult first couple of months – he couldn’t train and he couldn’t play.
“He was really frustrated but he managed to get back on the field and his work ethic is unbelievable. He is a young player who wants to spend time on the field and wants to improve himself.”

There have been suggestions that Chelsea might be the team currently leading the chase for Olise.
But hopefully City will steal in, because Olise is a quality young player who could become one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
The youngster has technical quality in abundance, which will surely appeal to Pep Guardiola.
But clearly, given the comments from Vieira, Olise works extremely hard and wants to better himself.
To succeed at City, you need to have the right mentality.
Olise might just be the perfect candidate to replace Mahrez.
