Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has lavished praise upon Josko Gvardiol.

Speaking in his press conference (via Manchester Evening News) ahead of City’s upcoming clash against Young Boys, the Catalan tactician was quizzed about the £200,000-a-week (Sport Rac) player.

Now, Pep Guardiola has given a glowing verdict about Manchester City centre-back Josko Gvardiol.

Pep Guardiola raves about ‘incredible’ Josko Gvardiol

Branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Mateo Kovacic, the 21-year-old has been a revelation since signing for City.

Despite Nathan Ake’s exceptional displays at left-back last season, it seems like the Croatian international has usurped him as the Sky Blues’ first-choice option in the role.

That is simply down to how brilliant Josko Gvardiol has been from day one, which Pep Guardiola was not hesitant to pinpoint.

“We knew he was an incredible person. He can play centre-back, full-back. Defensively and offensively – he’s incredibly open minded about what we want to do. He’s an incredible professional so really pleased”, Guardiola said.

“He has experienced already playing in the World Cup and European Cup. He won two Pokals in Germany, he is a regular in his national team. So, he has a lot of experience aged 21.”

Josko Gvardiol has gone under the radar this season

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City supporters seem to be fully aware of how excellent Josko Gvardiol has been this season but there is a sense that his performances have gone rather unnoticed by the masses.

In some ways, that is as major a compliment as any as the 21-year-old has fitted like a glove at City.

But it is testament to Gvardiol’s magnificence and that too out of position that he has looked like a level above Ake as a left-back.

Defensively, the youngster has been rock-solid and going forward, his ball-carrying and technical ability has been simply sensational.

If Josko Gvardiol continues to maintain such high standards, it is inevitable that he will get the praise his performances merit.
