Benjamin Sesko has insisted he is a completely different player to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, but says he watches the Norwegian superstar to learn from him.
The Slovenia international is gearing up for a first season with RB Leipzig, having sealed a £55 million transfer to the German outfit last year.
It was agreed that Sesko would remain with RB Salzburg for the 2022/23 season.
In his final season with Salzburg, he scored 18 goals across all competitions.
That took his tally to 29 in 79 games for the Austrian side.
Prior to that, Sesko had a loan spell with FC Liefering, where he scored 22 goals in 44 games.
Despite not being as prolific, Sesko has regularly been compared to Haaland. Mainly because they have a similar physical profile.
But Sesko believes he is very different from City’s number nine.

Sesko conducted an interview with Bild ahead of his debut season with Leipzig.
He was asked about those Haaland comparisons, to which he replied: “There has been a lot of talk about it. But we’re completely different players. I like him very much and I also like to watch him play.
“He’s a fantastic player. I also try to learn from him, because in the end we are almost the same size.
“But in the end, I don’t like the comparison. Basically, I don’t want to compare myself with other players. I just want to be me and give my best.”
Haaland is truly one-of-a-kind
It’s nice to hear comments like this from Sesko, who is clearly in awe of Haaland’s accomplishments in football so far just like most people.
It is understandable he’s trying to distance himself from the comparisons though.
Surely, they will bring about a lot of pressure for Sesko.
Ultimately, Haaland is just one-of-a-kind.
He is a physical specimen who essentially scores every time he takes to the field.
And it’s not just Haaland’s physicality and goalscoring prowess that is so impressive. It’s his mentality too.
Not long ago, Ilkay Gundogan revealed that Haaland was usually the first player turning up for City training and being super professional.
Jack Grealish has also joked that Haaland is so dedicated and professional that he is ‘boring’.
