Jason Cundy has now said that Chelsea starlet Cole Palmer reminds him of Manchester City maestro Bernardo Silva.

As the outspoken pundit was doing commentary for the Blues’ official website during their 2-0 victory against Blackburn, he gave his two cents on the City academy product’s showing on Wednesday night.

Jason Cundy has been impressed with Cole Palmer to the extent that he sees shades of Bernardo Silva in his game.

Jason Cundy says Cole Palmer is Bernardo Silva 2.0

The 21-year-old is certainly turning heads with his performances at Stamford Bridge, with Pat Nevin also likening him to a young Kevin De Bruyne and branding him as a youngster that could become ‘world-class.’

While Mauricio Pochettino’s side have flattered to deceive this campaign, the Englishman has emerged as one of their few positives.

So much so that Jason Cundy has gone as far as to compare Cole Palmer to Bernardo Silva.

“I have to say, Cole Palmer right now is on fire. He is Chelsea’s best, most influential player, no question about that. Every time he gets the ball, something’s going to happen. He’s got that ability. He reminded me a little bit of Bernardo or David Silva”, he said.

Cole Palmer is ace but the comparison does not quite add up

While Jason Cundy is right to hail Cole Palmer as an exceptional young talent, his game cannot be compared to that of Bernardo Silva.

This is not due to the fact that the Portuguese international is an elite player but simply due to how different their profiles are.

The Wythenshawe-born attacker is far more similar to Riyad Mahrez, as he is also a left-footed right-winger, technically proficient, capable of taking on his man and has the ability to produce goals and assists.

Perhaps the only difference remains is that Palmer is also a threat when played as an attacking midfielder.

Bernardo Silva, on the other hand is primarily a controller deep in midfield and out wide, he is a more of an orchestrator than Cole Palmer.
