Jarrod Bowen has named Manchester City lynchpin Rodri as one of the three best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

Speaking to FIVE’s official YouTube channel, the West Ham United winger was quizzed about where Declan Rice ranks amongst the very best in the league in his position.

Jarrod Bowen said that one of the players that Declan Rice is on par with is Rodri.

Branded as ‘sensational’ by Gary Neville recently, the £63 million (Reuters) man was also hailed as the best No.6 in the world by the Manchester United legend.

In fact, this has especially become the general consensus since last season where the 27-year-old was operating at an especially tremendous level.

Now, Jarrod Bowen has also said that Rodri is a truly exceptional player, while claiming that he is one of the three best holding midfielders in the Premier League.

“I think the only one who’s on a level with Dec is Rodri personally. I think, personally”, he said.

“You’ve obviously got Casemiro as well at United who’s won everything, done really well at United. So, those would be probably my three. But when I watch Rodri, I actually played Rodri not a long ago, the way he is on the pitch, he’s incredible.”

Rodri is on a different level to the rest

While not many are aware of how brilliant a player Declan Rice is more than Jarrod Bowen, it is still fair to argue that Rodri is in a different tier to him.

Simply put, there is not a more complete defensive midfielder than the Manchester City anchor in the world.

Despite perhaps not being an exceptional athlete, Rodri’s smart reading of the game makes him elite defensively.

While on the ball, the manner in which the treble-winner not just dictates games but also creates chances is second to none.

Add Rodri’s incredible big-game catalogue, especially in terms of clutch goals into the mix and the argument makes itself.
