Josko Gvardiol has admitted that he has been surprised by how phenomenal Ederson Moraes is on the ball.

Speaking to club media, the Croatian international was quizzed about which of his Manchester City teammates have stunned him with their abilities so far.

Josko Gvardiol instantly named Ederson as one out of the two players that have done so.

Paul Lake even went as far as to say that the £35 million (GOAL) man is the greatest goalkeeper in possession in the history of the sport.

Even Andy Townsend recently claimed that the Brazilian international is simply the best in the world when it comes to this very trait.

Now, Josko Gvardiol has also said that he has been surprised by how excellent Ederson is with the ball at his feet.

“If you talk about Eddie, he’s a goalkeeper but he’s incredible with the ball”, he said.

Ederson is the glue to Pep Guardiola’s system at Manchester City

One can understand why Josko Gvardiol has been taken aback by Ederson on the ball, as he is well and truly one of one in this respect.

In fact, it would be fair to claim that in possession, the Manchester City legend trumps the likes of Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Barcelona’s Marc Ander-ter Stegen and Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.

Before his arrival in 2017, one witnessed the impact of a No.1 who was far from world-class with the ball at their feet in Claudio Bravo.

Pep Guardiola’s men were far from the fluid side they became in build-up due to the Chilean’s limited passing range.

However, ever since Ederson has joined the club, he has allowed the Catalan tactician to be able to employ his system effectively.

So much so that it is far from outlandish to claim that City would deteriorate as a team in the 30-year-old’s absence.
