Danny Murphy has said that it is “boring” just how exceptional a player Rodri is.
The pundit made this comment about the Manchester City lynchpin after omitting him from his Premier League Team of the Season on talkSPORT, picking Douglas Luiz and Declan Rice as his double pivot instead.
In May last year, Murphy hailed the Spanish international as a “phenomenal” player, as he clearly rates him very highly.
Danny Murphy says it is “boring” how brilliant Rodri is
The £63 million (Daily Mail) man’s display against Sheffield United summed up his magnificence, as he scored a screamer and ran proceedings from the word, “go.”
Week in and week out, the 27-year-old seems to be finding new gears to his game for Pep Guardiola’s men.
While picking his Premier League Team of the Season so far, Danny Murphy praised Rodri, despite choosing not to select him in his side.

“Rodri’s the obvious choice but he’s just maintained his wonderful levels of just being the best holding midfield player in the world. It’s boring, really. He’s so good, it’s just boring”, he told talkSPORT.
Rodri shares this trait with several elite players
The fact that Danny Murphy seems to be bored of how impeccable Rodri has been once again this campaign points to his incredible consistency over the years for Manchester City.
Several elite players have received this very treatment from fans and pundits alike as they make it a habit to put in tremendous displays season after season.
As a result, perhaps it makes for a more exciting talking point to hail other players in their positions.
But if Manchester City kick into gear once again during the business end of the season, it is likely that Rodri will be one of the first names in virtually every Premier League Team of the Season.
The ex-Villareal midfielder has evolved into a leader for the Sky Blues, as he seems to be the driving force for them in several crucial fixtures, especially when his teammates are having rare off days.
