Manchester City are currently on the hunt to win more silverware in their 2024/25 season.

With eight games played in the Premier League, City have won six and drawn two, making them the only side in the division to be unbeaten at the stage of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also aiming to secure the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League to add even more accolades to their trophy cabinet.

One player from City’s squad who has played a key role in previous trophy victories is Kyle Walker.

Now though, in the midst of his eighth season with the Blues, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding the City captain’s current situation at the Manchester club and what the future may look like for him.

Kyle Walker pondering Man City future

According to a recent report from Give Me Sport, Walker is “having to seriously consider his future” at City due to the lack of regular game time he’s had so far this season.

Since joining City from Tottenham Hotspur back in the 2017 summer transfer window, the Englishman has made 308 appearances for the club across all competitions.

This season has seen the 34-year-old start just four of the seven matches he’s appeared in across all competitions.

For Sunday’s win at Molineux, Guardiola said that Walker wasn’t feeling well and was therefore unable to be in City’s matchday squad to face Wolves following his time in the England camp during the recent international break.

City are willing to cash in on Walker

Earlier this month, it was reported that City are willing to sell Walker in the summer, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli apparently interested in him.

With the right-back’s current deal at the Etihad Stadium set to expire in the summer of 2026, it was also claimed in the same report that City have no intention of discussing a potential contract extension for Walker.

Taking all of that on board, the defender may have some work to do this season to convince Guardiola and City that they should keep hold of him beyond this season.

However, from the club’s point of view, it would be better for them financially to sell Walker in the summer rather than potentially see him leave as a free agent in 2026.
