How Man City fans have led to Ederson wanting to leave the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has been heavily linked with a transfer move away from the club this summer.

With seven years under his belt at the Etihad Stadium as City’s first-choice goalkeeper, the 30-year-old has made 332 appearances across all competitions.

Having played a key role in the club’s trophy success over the past few years, Ederson has recently found himself being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Specifically, Al Nassr and Al Ittihad have been in contact with the Manchester club over a potential deal for the goalkeeper, although both have walked away from negotiations due to City’s high asking price.

While Ederson is now involved in City’s pre-season tour of America, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding what has led to the Brazil international going from potentially signing a new deal at the Etihad to being linked with a move away.

What the Man City fans did to make Ederson want to leave the club

A recent report from The Athletic has claimed that back in March, Ederson was ready to sign a new deal at the club.

However, after being affected by the praise that Stefan Ortega received for his vital one-on-one save against Son Heung-min in City’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur and the suggestions made by some City supporters that he wouldn’t have been able to make that save, the Brazilian’s head turned towards leaving the club.

Ederson should stay at City and prove any doubters wrong

While Ederson may have the right to be annoyed at some criticism put to him by the City fans, we feel that it makes him look rather thin-skinned if it has led to him looking to leave the club.

Either way, given how important the Brazilian is for the team, we feel that it would be a big blow for the club if Ederson were to leave this summer.
