How much Man City now have to pay to sign Tijjani Reijnders, Pep Guardiola thinks he is the ‘perfect’ signing

Tijjani Reijnders seems like he is Manchester City’s number one target in the summer transfer window.

Even before Florian Wirtz looked set to join Liverpool, Pep Guardiola was a huge fan of Reijnders who he considers as the “perfect player” to bolster his midfield.

Despite being in an AC Milan side who have fallen off a cliff as they finished in seventh place in Serie A while being Inter Milan’s closest challengers for the title last season, the Dutchman has impressed.

So much so that Reijnders has been named Serie A’s best midfielder.

Man City could seal Tijjani Reijnders signing for £67 million

Considering City have struggled this season as well, witnessing Tijjani Reijnders manage to thrive in difficult circumstances would perhaps be another reason why his addition appeals to them.

Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Reijnders and it was expected that AC Milan would demand a fee of £54.7 million to let him go.

However, Calcio Mercato have revealed that sources close to the negotiations believe that only if City are willing to pay a fee of around £62.9 to £67.1 million (€75 to €80 million) would Milan agree to a deal.

Furthermore, Manchester City will have to fork out such a fee to sign Reijnders by taking potential add-ons into account as well.

The report mentions that the Sky Blues have upped the ante in an effort to signing Reijnders, who Milos Kerkez lauded before the FIFA Club World Cup.

Man City’s most expensive signings of all time

If Manchester City sign Reijnders for £67.1 million, he would go down as one of their most expensive signings of all time.

Reijnders could rank in either third or fourth place based on the fee City finally agree with AC Milan.

But considering the quality the former AZ Alkmaar midfielder possesses as well as his experience, it would come as no surprise if the fee is considered a bargain if he makes the move to the Etihad Stadium.
