‘I believe he can’… Joleon Lescott makes huge ‘all time’ prediction about £225k-a-week Man City player

Manchester City star Phil Foden stunned on Monday as he hit a hat-trick against Brentford – and after the game, Joleon Lescott made a big prediction about City’s finest ever academy product.

Foden struck three times for City at the Gtech Community Stadium as City took all three points to close the gap on Liverpool.

City are now just two points behind the Reds, after they lost to Arsenal on Sunday.

City were great against Brentford, and showed calm heads to come from behind after Neal Maupay had opened the scoring.

Foden scored his first goal just before half-time, converting after a poor headed clearance.

He then headed home from a Kevin De Bruyne cross, before driving into the box after an Erling Haaland lay-off for his third. After the game, Alan Smith named him Sky’s player of the match.

It was another top showing from Foden, who could go on to achieve something truly special in his career in the eyes of Lescott…

Lescott appeared on City’s post-match coverage of the game on YouTube, and was as blown away by Foden as everyone else on social media.

The 23-year-old is now up to 14 goals across all competitions, and nine assists.

Of course, Foden is having a tremendous season. But he is surrounded by world-class players which allows him to flourish.

That has been the case for Foden his whole career and so far, he has been lucky enough to win 16 trophies with his boyhood club (including the two Community Shields).

£225,000-a-week star Foden has the quality to stay in this team for many years, and Lescott believes he could end up being the most decorated English player of all time. He said: “When you think about his age and the stats that he is accumulating now, I believe he can go to become the most decorated English player of all time.

“At 23 [if City become champions again this season] it would be a sixth Premier League title for him.

“And with [potential] FA Cups, Champions League, League Cups, he could be one of the greatest if not the greatest.”

This could genuinely happen

Foden has already won 16 trophies (14 major) with City, meaning he is actually already one of the most decorated English players ever.

It is scary to think that Foden, potentially, still has at least 10 more years playing at the highest level.

He is a world-class talent, and assuming he continues on this same trajectory and always works as hard as he does, then there’s no reason why he can’t be a City regular for the next 10 years or so. He loves the club, and has previously spoken about staying at City his whole career.

Lescott’s prediction is not that out there. Foden could genuinely finish his career and become the most decorated English player ever.

Currently, Paul Scholes is the most decorated English player having won 25 trophies with Manchester United, meaning Foden is already well on his way.
