‘I checked’: Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s now heard about Julian Alvarez and UCL giants

Fabrizio Romano has revealed how likely it is for Julian Alvarez to leave Manchester City and complete a transfer to Barcelona.

Branded as ‘extraordinary’ by Pep Guardiola, the 22-year-old has been tipped to leave City by many due to playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland.

As most clubs including Barcelona, at least in theory would fancy a transfer involving Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, the likelihood a move has surfaced.

How likely it is for Alvarez to leave Manchester City to join Barcelona

Considering just how terrific the World Cup winner has instantly looked at the Etihad Stadium, he has been tipped to leave the Sky Blues.

Simply because the common question remains why Alvarez would even stay at the club when not a single No.9 in the world could displace Haaland.

With Barcelona reportedly lurking in hopes of wrapping up a transfer for Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, Fabrizio Romano has detailed what he has heard.

“Also, guys, again, we had rumours about Barcelona and Julian Alvarez, why? Because Pep Guardiola didn’t make any changes in the semi-final game against Real Madrid, so there were rumours about many players including Alvarez. He’s not playing in the big games, so many were saying that he may be disappointed”, he said on his official YouTube channel.

Fabrizio Romano said that Julian Alvarez leaving Manchester City in favour of a transfer to Barcelona is virtually impossible, saying, “When I checked, this is not the case. Alvarez signed a new deal at City because they trust him. It is also important to say that he trusts the Man City project. He believes in the long-term it is the best way for him. They also improved his salary. At the moment, there is no problem at all between Alvarez and Man City.”

MCN View: Makes no sense for Alvarez to leave in search of a transfer elsewhere

Be it for Barcelona or a transfer to any club in Europe for that matter, it is unlikely that Julian Alvarez is even enticed by the prospect of leaving Manchester City in the first place.

This season already, Pep Guardiola has shown different ways in which he can field the Argentine alongside Erling Haaland and it has worked wonders.

Whether that is as a second striker or alongside Kevin De Bruyne as a pair of No.10’s, it all seems to fit together perfectly.

If there is an existing plan in place that gets the best out of Alvarez, why would he leave a club that could win the treble in his first season?
