'I just think': Michael Owen has predicted the result of Man City vs Real Madrid

As Manchester City prepare to face Real Madrid in the Champions League second leg semi-final, Michael Owen has made his prediction for the much-awaited clash.

While Wayne Rooney expected City to ‘crush’ Carlo Ancelotti’s side, the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.

With the second leg set to be played at the Etihad Stadium between Manchester City and Real Madrid, Michael Owen has given his prediction.

All eyes will be on whether the Sky Blues can reach the final and prove that that they can go and win the treble.

With the title all but sealed and them being favourites in the FA Cup final against Manchester United, the toughest test that awaits them in their quest to make history are the 14-time European champions.

However, Michael Owen backs Manchester City to beat Real Madrid in his prediction for Wednesday night’s contest.

“It’s a brilliant game, I just think Manchester City now, Rio [Ferdinand] touched on it before in terms of the experience, yes they’ve never won it but they’ve done those hard yards now, they’ve felt the pain, they probably understand it a lot more now than they ever have done” Owen said on BT Sport.

Michael Owen elaborated about his prediction that sees Manchester City beating Real Madrid, saying, “So, I don’t think they’re going to be as inexperienced as they were last season, basically throwing the game away when they were better for 170 minutes out of the 180 against Madrid. I just think at home, they’ve got the quality.”

“I can see them going on and winning the treble, of course this season. They’re that good.”

Manchester City fans will hope the ex-Liverpool striker has a tendency to make the right prediction as their upcoming battle against Real Madrid is one of the biggest games to ever be played at the Etihad Stadium so far.

That is the sheer magnitude of this clash between arguably the two best teams in the world.
