‘I really don’t’: Pundit says ‘astonishing’ Man City player could actually get worse this season

Scott Minto has said that he does not think Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland will be as prolific in front of goal next season.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Premier League Access podcast, the pundit gave his two cents on all things City ahead of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Boldly enough, Scott Minto believes Erling Haaland will be unable to replicate the heights he hit during his debut season at Manchester City.

Scott Minto says Erling Haaland will not score as many goals for Manchester City next season

Branded as ‘astonishing’ by Rio Ferdinand, the Norwegian striker broke the Premier League goal record last season, with a staggering 36 goals to his name.

In total, Haaland bagged an incredible 52 goals in all competitions, spearheading the Sky Blues to win a historic treble.

However, Scott Minto has question marks over whether Erling Haaland will really be as much in the goals in the upcoming campaign.

“I think he’ll still be the top goalscorer in the Premier League but he won’t score as many. I don’t think he’ll score as many this season coming. I really don’t”, the former Chelsea defender said.

Erling Haaland has a habit of making a mockery of his doubters

Much like Scott Minto, many have expressed their doubts about Erling Haaland ever since he stepped foot into the Etihad Stadium.

Throughout last season, while the 23-year-old was breaking goalscoring records for fun, his critics constantly lambasted his all-round game and how much they believed he had declined City as a unit upon his arrival.

Of course, Erling Haaland seemingly paid no mind to such discourse and instead went on to have one of the greatest individual seasons in the history of the game.

Once again, while the treble-winner is expected to be questioned time and again, he is likely to remind his sceptics why doubting a once-in-a-generation goalscorer is not the wisest decision.
