Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has admitted that his performance was not up to par against Wolves.

As quoted by Manchester Evening News, the £41 million (Independent) man gave an honest verdict about his performance in his side’s 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

Nathan Ake did not shy away from the fact that he had one of his most disappointing outings in a Manchester City shirt against Wolves.

The Dutchman, branded as ‘almost perfect’ by Jamie Carragher was notably beaten for pace by Pedro Neto in the build-up to the hosts’ opener at the Molineux Stadium.

However, even aside from the first goal, Ake was struggling to cope with Neto’s quick feet and searing pace.

After Manchester City were beaten by Wolves, Nathan Ake held his hands up and admitted that he was far from his best.

“They had a lot of counter-attacks, we should have stopped them. Me, I should have stopped them. I could have done much better on a few occasions. I will definitely look at myself first before anyone else”, he said.

Nathan Ake added that Manchester City as a whole were off the boil against Wolves, saying, “But I think overall, we could have done much better. Yeah, it was [an overall disappointing performance] but I always look at myself and I wasn’t happy with myself. So, that’s first and foremost and the team collectively should have done better as well but obviously, I will look at myself first.”

“Personally, I think yes, a few occasions I could have done better. First half with the first goal, obviously a bit lucky that he still got it when I tackled him, but normally in these situations I get the ball and I didn’t.”

Now, Nathan Ake is focused on moving forward after his abysmal display against Wolves, saying, “It’s frustrating. Sometimes you can have games like that, it’s about how you pick yourself up and go again.”
