Iker Casillas has made an interesting suggestion about a Manchester City player.
Casillas — who retired in 2018 is regarded by many as arguably the greatest goalkeeper in the history of football.
The Real Madrid legend played with some of the best players the game has ever seen.
Iker Casillas also played in a Spanish side that won Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 — a run that makes that potentially makes that era of Spain the greatest international team of all time.
The 43-year-old was ‘blind ranking’ players who are currently playing at the European Championship — including Kevin De Bruyne.

Iker Casillas makes fresh suggestion about Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne
For BBC Sport, Iker Casillas suggested that De Bruyne is a superior player to Jamal Musiala — ranking the latter in ninth place initially while picking the former in fifth place as the video progressed.
The other players who the legendary goalkeeper placed below Manchester City’s number 17 were Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Alongside Musiala, the players who Casillas ranked below De Bruyne were Luka Modric, Robert Lewandowski, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk.
Kevin De Bruyne remains a better player than Jamal Musiala
Iker Casillas would fairly be suggesting that De Bruyne remains a superior midfielder to Musiala — with the former’s 2023/2024 season only being derailed by injuries.
But in the campaign before the last, the Manchester City vice-captain registered 10 goals and 31 assists in all competitons while winning the treble, while the German international’s most productive season also emerged in the same team; with 16 goals and 16 assists in total.
Statistics aside, as players, Musiala should perhaps aspire to develop into an attacking midfielder similar to De Bruyne.
The 21-year-old will only well and truly become a world-class number 10 once he starts to become an elite chance-creator — something the Belgian has been since his time at VFL Wolfsburg.
Once Musiala hones this side of this game by potentially even studying De Bruyne’s vision and final ball, he could be compared to the midfield maestro.
So far in his career, the Bayern Munich technician is yet to have reached the 33-year-old’s high standards as a player.
