‘I’ll drive him there’… Rival fans are buzzing after hearing Man City want to sign one of their players

Another new name has been added to Man City’s summer wishlist. But it’s not one that’s gotten many people excited.

Manchester City are plotting some big moves in the summer under new director of football Hugo Viana, who looks set to shake up the full-back department.

Kyle Walker is no longer in Man City’s plans and it’s now being reported that Man City are interested in Destiny Udogie at Spurs, though City fans are all that sold on the Spurs right-back.

And it also seems like Spurs fans aren’t either with many finding Man City’s apparent interest in the full-back quite humorous.

Spurs fans in agreement as Destiny Udogie linked with Man City

Posting on X after hearing of Man City’s interest in Udogie, most Spurs fans were in complete agreement that they wouldn’t be all that bothered if Udogie were to be sold to Man City, or indeed any other club this summer.

“Trash, ready to bin,” said one fan, as other comments ranged from: “Average player,” and even: “We should pay them to take him.”

Spurs paid Udinese an initial £15million fee to sign the 22-year-old Italian international in 2022. Spurs fans went on to add: “I’ll drive him there myself,” as well as: “They can take him with my blessing.”

“Haven’t watched him this season clearly,” said another Spurs supporter. A slightly lengthier comment read: “Maybe under a new manager he would flourish but in my eyes I wouldn’t be upset if we sold.”

Destiny Udogie’s 24/25 stats vs Josko Gvardiol

Josko Gvardiol is a nailed on starter for Man City this season. He’s a player who Pep can build his next Man City XI around and so Udogie coming in would be as back up to Gvardiol, or even to play on the right side of defence.

And comparing Gvardiol and Udogie’s stats this season, it’s cleat that Gvardiol is the more prolific full-back in terms of getting forward and scoring, which is something Pep has always wanted from his full-backs.

Udogie’s stats though suggest that he can definitely do the defensive work which remains a key aspect for Pep; perhaps especially so given Man City’s struggles this season and the uncertainty of how they’ll perform next time round.

But Spurs’ fans verdict on Udogie amid his links away should tell Man City all they need to know about the player.
