Micah Richards has admitted that he remains “devastated” to be witnessing former Manchester City wonderkid Cole Palmer in a Chelsea shirt.
The well-known pundit expressed his frustration to The Rest Is Football podcast after the £42.5 million (Eurosport) man scored a decisive 95th-minute penalty in a 4-4 draw to snatch two points away from City.
Micah Richards admits he was “devastated” to see Chelsea winger Cole Palmer leave Manchester City
Richards did acknowledge that in his opinion, the 21-year-old, who he described as “outstanding” against his former side on Sunday made the right choice by pushing for a move elsewhere.
So far, the Englishman has set the world alight at Stamford Bridge, with four goals and two assists in six Premier League starts.
Micah Richards has expressed that he is upset to be witnessing Cole Palmer playing for Chelsea instead of still being a Manchester City player.

“I’m gutted, I’m gutted. I think it was right for him because it’s not like he’s going to a team which are not going to challenge, he’s got a great manager, he’s at a club that are going to spend a lot of money and he’s becoming the main man. You’re never going to be the main man at Man City”, he told The Rest Is Football podcast.
“We’ve talked so much about [Phil] Foden and whether he can become that and it’s taken Foden [time], he’s sort of dipped in form a little bit. He played well today but when you’ve got Foden and [Jeremy] Doku, and [Jack] Grealish and Bernardo Silva and [Julian] Alvarez, he has to go and play.”
“So, I’m gutted, I’m devastated that he’s not a Man City player but I’m happy he’s doing so well.”
Oscar Bobb could emerge as his replacement
While many Manchester City supporters would likely echo Micah Richards’ sentiments about Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer, it seems like Oscar Bobb could emerge as his successor.
Featuring heavily in pre-season, starting against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup as well as making substitute appearances in the Premier League and Champions League this campaign, the 20-year-old seems to have impressed Pep Guardiola.
Much like Palmer, Bobb is capable of playing on the right wing and in midfield, whilst being excellent technically and if the youngster bides his time at City, he could well become a starter one day.
