Joleon Lescott has said that as a presser, Manchester City goalscorer Julian Alvarez reminds him of Carlos Tevez.
Speaking on City’s official YouTube channel ahead of their 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid, the 23-year-old’s relentless off-the-ball work was brought up.
Joleon Lescott, who shared a dressing room with Carlos Tevez at Manchester City claimed that Julian Alvarez presses just like he used to.

Now, Joleon Lescott has mentioned Julian Alvarez and Carlos Tevez in the same breath, saying, “The press, he’s equally as important out of possession for us, has a kind of mad understanding, Tevez-like of where passes might go and nullify build-up. He’s in there for multiple reasons, I’m sure the Atletico players will be thinking of him more attackingly than defensively.”
While Diego Simeone’s side managed to nullify the treble-winner, he was a busybody on the pitch as usual.
