As Manchester City seem keen on making a move for Matheus Nunes, Bruno Fernandes once revealed he told him to join Manchester United.
During an interview with Record in August last year, the Red Devils captain reacted to his countryman’s transfer to Wolves.
While Bruno Fernandes lauded now-Manchester City target Matheus Nunes, he also admitted that he was dying for him to sign for Manchester United.
Bruno Fernandes told Manchester City target Matheus Nunes to make Manchester United move
It was reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola’s men were extremely interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer.
The vision at the Etihad Stadium is to supplement their side with a number of contributors in midfield after Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term injury.
Perhaps if Manchester City do end up signing Matheus Nunes, Bruno Fernandes will not be a happy man.

“I’ve already talked to him. I’ve already told him that he should have come here [Manchester United] and not there [Wolves]. I’m very happy for him. He’s going to experience the best league in the world, he’s going to have players beside him with a lot of quality, like Ruben [Neves] and Joao [Moutinho], who will teach him a lot. They are two experienced players.”
Bruno Fernandes also lavished praise on to the Manchester City target, saying, “Matheus is doing incredible things. He has an incredible scope for growth, he is a humble, hardworking kid and I’m sure he will probably explode in the Premier League and will show his qualities. Because for his qualities Matheus was not made for the Premier League but rather the Premier League was made for Matheus.”
It seems like the treble-winner could well be adding an outstanding midfielder to their roster, if the move ends up coming to fruition this summer.
