Manchester City have a player in their squad who has now made it clear that he wants to leave.
City are expected to be busy on deadline day as they look to put the final touches on Pep Guardiola’s squad, who will be eager to have his group finalised for the 2025/26 campaign after suffering back-to-back defeats during the opening phase of the Premier League season.
Manuel Akanji’s future at Man City is up in the air with just hours to go in the summer transfer window, while there is also potential for Ilkay Gundogan and Nathan Ake to depart the Etihad Stadium, having been unused substitutes again against Brighton on Sunday.
One star within Guardiola’s ranks has now made it clear he wants to leave Man City and will be hoping a club comes in for his services before the window shuts.

Stefan Ortega plans on leaving Man City on deadline day
It was reported on Monday morning that Stefan Ortega was likely to stay at Man City after rejecting several offers to leave throughout the current transfer window.
Burnley were one of the clubs interested in the goalkeeper Guardiola once labelled as “incredible”, while Ortega also turned down a move to Fenerbahce, which has now led to Ederson joining the Turkish club.
The BBC are now reporting that the German wants to leave Man City before the deadline passes on Monday, as the 32-year-old knows he will be behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford all season. The Manchester club also signed Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea this summer.
It remains to be seen who comes in for Ortega over the coming hours, but even if the German doesn’t secure a move before Monday’s deadline, the door is still open for a switch to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, whose transfer windows close at a later date.

Gianluigi Donnarumma to undergo his medical on Monday afternoon
One of the main reasons Ortega wants to leave Manchester is a result of Gianluigi Donnarumma being on the verge of signing for Man City as Ederson’s replacement.
The Premier League giants have agreed a £26m transfer fee with PSG for the Italian goalkeeper, with the 26-year-old set to undergo his medical on Monday afternoon, reports Fabrice Hawkins.
The signing of Donnarumma is a big statement from Man City; however, plenty of questions remain over how he will fit into Guardiola’s system, as it is well-known that he is not the best with the ball at his feet.
