‘Incredibly angry’: Pep Guardiola says £300,000-a-week Manchester City player is ‘a huge competitor’

Bernando Silva comes as a very calm and collected footballer on the pitch, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that the Portuguese star does have a different side to him.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said, as quoted in CityXtra, that Bernando Silva is a very important player for his side.

Guardiola has noted that the performance and form of Silva have helped City cope with the absence of Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne better.

De Bruyne is injured at the moment.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has said that the £300,000-a-week (Spotrac) Portugal international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, gets very angry and upset if things do not go his way.

Pep Guardiola on Manchester City star Bernardo Silva

Guardiola said: “Bernardo is so important for us, for me personally, for the relation I have with him. Always I like to have…

“A tight relation with some players is possible, the other ones is not because everyone has their own character, myself first.

“And Bernardo is so special, and of course he’s a type of player that can play in many, many positions, and he’s a huge competitor, he loves to win, incredibly angry and upset, it doesn’t look like it from the outside but when he loses games, and he misses a pass, simple things he is angry with himself.

“So competitive.”

My View: Bernardo Silva is world class

In my opinion, Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is a world-class player.

I have no doubt whatsoever about it.

Silva has been on the books of City since 2017 and has grown and developed a lot as a player over the years.

The 29-year-old is at the top of his game at the moment, and there are no signs that he is slowing down.

The Portugal international has made 204 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Silva has scored 34 goals and given 34 assists in those games.

City won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be determined to repeat that feat this time around.

And, in my view, for that to happen, Silva will have to be on top of his game throughout.
