Nedum Onuoha has said that it irks him when Erling Haaland and his exploits are dismissed due to how special of a season Harry Kane has had.
The well-liked pundit gave his opinion on the Let Me Talk podcast about the constant comparisons between the Tottenham Hotspur striker and the £51.2 million (Sky Sports) man.
Nedum Onuoha admitted to being frustrated by how the brilliance of Erling Haaland has been played down due to how well Harry Kane has performed in a struggling Spurs side.
Nedum Onuoha frustrated by Erling Haaland vs Harry Kane comparisons
When Wayne Rooney branded the Norwegian as the ‘best footballer in the world’, many heavily disagreed with his opinion, as they firmly believe he lacks the all-round game to ever be deserving of such a title.
Subsequently, a number of Haaland’s sceptics pointed to Kane, how complete his game is whilst emphasising his incredible 30-goal tally for a poor Tottenham side.
Nedum Onuoha has now said that just because of how well Harry Kane has performed does not mean Erling Haaland and his contributions are undervalued.

“I don’t like this energy at all. It really frustrates me, this pity party for Harry Kane who’s exactly where he wants to be. He’s literally where he wants to be. He’s playing for his team. He’s the top scorer for his team. And I don’t know the guy but all the chat makes me not like it.”
Nedum Onuoha pinpointed how Erling Haaland has won his side silverware, while Harry Kane has not as he is set to enter his 30s this year, saying, “I don’t like it, it’s almost like I don’t like him because of it. I’ve got nothing against him personally. I think he’s a very good finisher. But the talk around him, why are they saying he’s had a better season than Haaland?”
“Haaland has got a Premier League winner’s medal around his neck at the age of 2022. Harry Kane has got 30 goals and his team’s got worse.”
Nedum Onuoha has hit the nail on the head
Nedum Onuoha is absolute spot on and as impressive as what Harry Kane has achieved is, the fact that Erling Haaland has had such an unprecedented impact on the Premier League at such a young age trumps his feat.
Add that to the fact that Haaland has led his team to trophies and played significantly less minutes and it is a no-contest.
While Kane is lauded for his goalscoring exploits, the mere expectation on him is to spearhead Spurs to any piece of silverware.
As for Erling Haaland, who is seven years younger to him, his season would have widely been dubbed a failure, had City not have won the league and not be a step closer to winning the Champions League.
The levels of expectation are simply miles apart.
