Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been speaking about Pep Guardiola and the impact he’s had at the club, after many people had doubted him.
The 23-year-old is the latest City player to appear on the club’s official podcast, to discuss all the records he has broken in recent times and just general life at the Etihad.
Haaland has been a huge success since moving to the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
The Norwegian megastar scored 52 goals in his first season for the club, and played a crucial role as City won an historic Treble.
Haaland knows that it all wouldn’t have been possible without the brilliance of Pep Guardiola, and he raved about his manager on the official City podcast…
Erling Haaland hails Pep Guardiola for his work at Manchester City after he was doubted

It is not lost on Haaland what a special coach he is working under.
While Haaland did arrive at City as a world-class player, few thought he would be a success to the extent that he is and Guardiola has to take a great deal of credit for that.
Haaland has already won five trophies with City, and the club are looking to win a load more this year. There is every chance that City can do so with Pep at the helm.
After Barcelona great Albert Ferrer said recently that he did not expect Pep to become the manager he is today, Haaland said of his manager: “Look at what he has been doing ever since he came to England people had been doubting him and everything and just look at what he has been doing with the trophies and all the records which have been broken since he came.
“It’s incredible. In the big moments, he has experience as manager and when everyone has this confidence in the manager and you know everyone is following a plan, that’s when you feel confident you are going to achieve what you want to achieve on the pitch. If it’s against Madrid or Bayern or whoever.”
A remarkable stint
Many City fans will likely share Haaland’s sentiments about Pep – what he has done at City has been nothing short of incredible.
The £378,000-a-week manager has turned the team into a dominant force, that plays good football and wins titles, and he just seems to keep getting better and better, as Ange Postecoglou recently observed.
He has been backed heavily, as we know, but that is never a guarantee that players will turn out to be successes – it is the role of a manager to get the best out of them.
City’s recruitment has been excellent, but Guardiola’s work with his players has been exceptional, and as Haaland says, there is a total confidence from all of them in the Spaniard.
