Newcastle United talisman Bruno Guimaraes has admitted that he despises playing against Manchester City.

Speaking on the Charla Podcast, the 25-year-old gave an insight into the experience of going toe-to-toe against the treble-winners.

Bruno Guimaraes has said that the reason why he is not a fan of facing Manchester City is due to the gulf in class between them and Newcastle United.

While Yaya Toure recently claimed that Barcelona’s legendary team from 2009 would beat the Sky Blues, the fact that the latter are even in such conversations exemplifies the levels that they have hit.

Becoming only the second team in English football to have won the treble last season, Pep Guardiola’s men also won a three-peat of Premier League titles while they were at it.

Bruno Guimaraes has now admitted that Manchester City are so ahead of his side, Newcastle that he abhors the experience of facing them.

“We know Manchester City is a step above all teams in England, with all due respect. It’s the worst when we play there, I hate it. It feels like we’re children and they’re professionals. Horrible. It feels like they’re playing with 15, and we’re playing with seven.”

Bruno Guimaraes expressed that it seems impossible to tame this Sky Blues side, saying, “You look and say, ‘Wow, there are so many blue guys.’ It’s unbelievable… They’re all crazy good. Sometimes we talk, the coach asks: ‘Press the right side, the left side’… Against Manchester City, how do you play? You go out there and let them score right away.”

“It’s very difficult, there are so many good players.”

The biggest possible compliment for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola should be proud that his Manchester City side have reached a standard where even potentially world-class players like him find it a nightmare to face them.

Any and every great team have a fear factor that surround them due to their undeniable brilliance.

This City side have had this very aura for years and the fact that top professionals are acknowledging this reality should put a smile on Guardiola’s face.
