Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has confirmed that statues for Manchester City legends Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee are in the works.

The Sky Blues chairman made this revelation on the club’s official YouTube channel after looking back on his side’s historic treble-winning season.

Manchester City head honcho Khaldoon Al-Mubarak went on to reveal that statues for Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee outside the Etihad Stadium are being built.

What Khaldoon Al-Mubarak said about the Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee statues

There has been talk in the past about the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan getting such statues for their incredible contribution to City, much like in the cases of Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

However, Nedum Onuoha once claimed that Pep Guardiola could be the next icon of the club to be granted such an honour.

But such predictions are set to be false, with Khaldoon Al-Mubarak providing details about the statues that are being built for Manchester City stalwarts of yesteryear like Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee.

“I’ve seen the statue, I’ve been very involved – it’s something very personal for me. You have to recognise greatness and the incredible people that contributed to what we have today.”

“We have a responsibility as caretakers of this great club. While the statues that built so far have recognised the modern-day Manchester City heroes, this new statue is something I think every Manchester City fan truly appreciates; the great history of this club”, Khaldoon Al-Mubarak said about the statues in honour of Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee for their time at Manchester City.

“It’s represented with Francis, Colin and Mike and having them together in a magnificent piece of art, is the least we can do for what they’ve done. Leaving that everlasting legacy – always there to remember what Manchester City has; it has an incredible history.”

While Manchester City tend to have their critics for building so many statues, that is how such legends should be thanked, especially those of the standing of Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee, as Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has been doing for years now.
