Manchester City have had numerous players represent the club who have also played for Arsenal.

For example, names such as Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Gael Clichy among others have featured for both City and Arsenal over previous years.

Another big name to have played for both clubs is Patrick Vieira, who racked up 451 combined appearances for the two sides.

After spending nine years at the North London club between 1996 and 2005, the midfielder spent a year-and-a-half at the Etihad Stadium between January 2010 and July 2011.

Now though, another former Arsenal midfielder has made a claim about Vieira and one current City star.

Jack Wilshere picks Kevin De Bruyne over Patrick Vieira

In a recent video shared on the Daily Mail Sport TikTok channel, Wilshere was doing a winner-stays-on challenge which involved him having to pick between certain past and present top-flight midfielders based on who he thinks is better.

When asked to pick between Vieira and Kevin De Bruyne, Wilshere chose the Belgian over the former midfielder who was part of Arsenal’s unbeaten side.

De Bruyne vs Vieira

In 405 appearances with Arsenal, the Frenchman scored 32 goals, delivered 50 assists and won three Premier League titles.

In comparison, even though he’s a more attack-minded player than Vieira was, De Bruyne has found the back of the net 102 times, supplied 170 assists and won six Premier League trophies.

Interestingly, Rodri recently dubbed De Bruyne the greatest of all time, which shows how similar to Wilshere he is in terms of how much they admire the Belgian.

While most Arsenal fans will presumably not be happy to see Wilshere pick De Bruyne over Vieira, the fact that the 33-year-old has won so much and delivered so many goal contributions makes it easy to see why the Englishman picked him.
