Jamie Carragher believes if Liverpool had Kevin De Bruyne at their disposal, they would win the Premier League this season.

In January, the popular pundit claimed that the £51 million (The Guardian) man is “one of the best players we’ve ever seen in the Premier League.”

After Kevin De Bruyne’s masterclass against Newcastle United last month, Gary Neville stated that he would command respect if he played for any club in the world.

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool would win the Premier League if they had Kevin De Bruyne

Considering Manchester City have beaten Liverpool to two league titles by a mere point, many have wondered how the former have managed to have the edge over the latter, with both teams recruiting excellently over the years and having a pair of elite managers in their ranks.

With difference-makers on both sets of sides such as Erling Haaland and Rodri at the Etihad Stadium and Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield, the question has been a reasonable one to pose.

But Jamie Carragher believes Kevin De Bruyne is the ultimate difference, who he believes would spearhead Liverpool to the league title if he was on their books.

“He’s been the best player in the Premier League for the last four, five years since he came back from Germany and joined Man City. I think he’s been the difference in how often City have pipped Liverpool to league titles. If you put him in the Liverpool shirt, Liverpool would win the league, that’s how dominant he is”, he said on Sky Sports.

Kevin De Bruyne could well have led Jurgen Klopp’s side to the title

In our view, Jamie Carragher raises a fair point about Kevin De Bruyne, especially considering Liverpool lack a difference-maker in midfield like him.

While players like Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Endo have shown their class this season, it would be fair to claim the 32-year-old is on another level to them.

In a sense, Kevin De Bruyne would be their spearhead in midfield in the same vein as Steven Gerrard was during his time at the club.

However, Manchester City can count their lucky stars that the midfield maestro has represented them instead of any other English side and led them to multiple trophies for almost a decade.
