After Manchester City defeated RB Leipzig 3-2 on Tuesday night, Jeremy Doku raved about the man of the moment, Phil Foden.

Doku commented on the versatile attacker’s Instagram post after he played a vital role in City staging a comeback from two goals down in the second half against the Bundesliga side.

Phil Foden was deployed in a left-sided attacking midfield role against RB Leipzig and he thrived, setting up Erling Haaland’s opener, scoring the equaliser and playing a crucial role in Julian Alvarez’s winner.

Jeremy Doku praises “class” Phil Foden after Manchester City beat RB Leipzig

In November, the £225,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man admitted that he prefers to play in a more central position in the middle of the park.

Recently, Scott Minto also claimed that it was high-time England started to play the Stockport-born technician in midfield.

As Phil Foden shone centrally against RB Leipzig, Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku summed up his heroics with one word, commenting, “Class” on his post-match Instagram post.

Phil Foden must play as Manchester City’s No.10 over Julian Alvarez

In our view, the Englishman is a much better fit than Julian Alvarez in the No.10 position for several reasons.

Firstly, Phil Foden is much more adept than the World Cup winner at stitching attacks, as he showed with his crafty link-up play with Jeremy Doku, which was one of the primary factors that led to Manchester City starting to dominate proceedings against RB Leipzig.

Furthermore, unlike Julian Alvarez, who is a pure goalscorer, the five-time Premier League winner is a natural creator, which makes him tailor-made for the attacking midfield position.

While Alvarez has shown that he can produce output from such a position, he is not as comfortable playing in tight spaces as a world-class technician like Foden is.

Against RB Leipzig, Phil Foden showcased why he is the true heir to Kevin De Bruyne’s throne over any other current player in Manchester City’s squad.
