Jeremy Doku sends 17-word message to Man City fans after Liverpool defeat

Manchester City were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in yesterday’s big Premier League clash at Anfield.

Manchester City’s miserable run continued, with Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah on target for the Reds.

It was another performance filled with defensive mistakes, and the visitors were actually somewhat lucky to only lose by two.

City had trouble creating chances as well. Some City fans were flabbergasted that Kevin De Bruyne didn’t start and only played for 15 minutes against Liverpool.

There were only really a couple of positives of the day. Pep Guardiola felt Nathan Ake was exceptional against Liverpool, and the Dutchman came in for a lot of love from City fans after the game.

And Jeremy Doku was also lively when he came on, completing more dribbles than any other player on the pitch.

The Belgian took to Instagram after the game to send a message to supporters.

Doku was positive when he came on for City in the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Guardiola had started with Matheus Nunes on the left and Rico Lewis on the right, but neither player got the better of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson respectively.

Guardiola took both off just before the hour mark, with Doku – making his first appearance back after injury – and Savinho coming on.

Doku gave Alexander-Arnold some problems, but was unable to help City get back into the game. But he certainly did a lot more than some of his teammates at Anfield.

Doku was seemingly in a defiant mood after the latest defeat for City, and sent a 17-word message (not including hashtag) to fans after the game on Instagram.

He said: “Back on the pitch and fighting with the team. We won’t stop working to make things better.”

Man City need Doku to step up

While it was a positive showing from Doku on his comeback from injury, City now need him to step up moving forward.

Quite frankly, the attackers at City this season have been very disappointing – excluding Erling Haaland.

Haaland has been scoring all the goals for City, and there are players – like Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Savinho – who are still yet to score in the league.

Appearances – 57
Goals – 8
Assists – 13
Trophies won – 3

Doku has scored on in the league, but it’s about time that he stepped up and found the on a more regular basis.

He’s into his second season at the Etihad Stadium now and knows what the English game is all about at this point. With Savinho still finding his feet, City really need him to find his shooting boots.
