It would not be a surprise to discover that Pep Guardiola has stunned himself with how much he has dominated the Premier League as Manchester City boss.
Guardiola has broken far too many records during his time at the club — with there being a case that he is the greatest manager to have ever graced the Premier League.
The £378,846-a-week man’s City side in the 2017/2018 campaign set the record for the most points in a single Premier League season (100) and in the following campaign, they also became the first team in the division’s history to win a domestic treble while accumulating a staggering 98 points.
After losing out on the title to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in 2020, Manchester City have also become the first team in English football history to win four league crows in a row; winning the treble last year as well.
Often, foreign managers struggle to adapt to the difficulties that Premier League football brings; from adapting to the style of play to the constant pressure that comes with managing in the most-watched division in the world.
Pep Guardiola himself took his first season to adapt to the workings of English football; indicating how difficult it is to conquer the Premier League for even legendary managers.

Obi Mikel makes fresh Premier League claim about Guardiola
As far as non-British managers go, the likes of Klopp, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti and Claudio Ranieri have all reigned supreme in outstanding fashion.
But none of the aforementioned managers have been able to create a dynasty typified by winning like the Catalan tactician has.
However, Guardiola is yet to match one standalone record in the Premier League.
That is, spearheading his City side to an unbeaten season where they win the league.
When quizzed about whether another team will be able to match Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ side in this respect on The Obi One Podcast, John Obi Mikel replied: “In the Premier League? I don’t know.”
Obi Mikel added that Pep Guardiola would be desperate to do so, however.
“I think that’s one record Pep Guardiola really, really would love to break. The unbeaten [season].”
Pep Guardiola could use ‘Invincibles’ goal as motivation for Man City this season
With Pep Guardiola always pushing himself and his Manchester City players towards attaining greatness, perhaps he would agree with John Obi Mikel.
While teams will superior points totals than Arsenal’s incredible side (90) have emerged since when they won the title unbeaten in 2004, no side has managed to replicate their unforgettable feat.
Perhaps this season, Pep Guardiola could instruct his players to chase such a goal.
It will be virtually impossible for them to achieve.
However, if City’s players aim for the moon, they could reach the stars and in the process, lift another league title at the end of the campaign.
